Jazz Legends: Thelonious Monk Quartet
Thelonious Monk piano | Charlie Rouse sax-tenor | John Ore double bass | Frankie Dunlop drums
Thelonious Monk is famous for his unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including “Ruby, My Dear”, which is part of the “Thelonious Monk Quartet” recording. He is also the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington. Quite a remarkable feat, considering that Ellington composed more than a thousand pieces, whereas Monk only wrote about 70.
